The Golden Age of Speed Skydiving: 52 New Records and Countless Opportunities

Who will set the next record? It could be you.

Take a look at the accompanying record chart from the recent FAI World Championships of Speed Skydiving. Every number highlighted in yellow represents a new record. That’s 52 new marks across the board! The performances are impressive, the speeds are getting faster, and the sport continues to evolve.

Countless opportunities. Which one will you claim?

But look a little closer. Among all those new records, there are still plenty of white spaces. And those empty spots represent something exciting: opportunity.

Some of the most noticeable gaps are continental records for Asia, South America, and Africa. Here in North America, there are also plenty of opportunities to establish records in the Junior, Junior Female, Master, and Master Female categories. Juniors are athletes aged 24 and younger, while Masters are 50 and older.

Think about that for a moment. There are records waiting for someone to claim them. Could you be the first? Could you be the next?

A Sport Ready for Its Next Generation

Speed skydiving is a discipline that continues to develop in technique, technology, and performance. As more skydivers discover the sport, the opportunities to compete, improve, and establish new records continue to grow.

I gave a seminar at the USPA Collegiate Championships in December 2025 with the goal of sparking interest in speed skydiving among younger jumpers. College-age skydivers are a natural fit for the Junior category, and I want to see more of them explore what is possible.

The future of this discipline depends on bringing new athletes into the sport while continuing to help experienced competitors refine their skills. We need fresh faces, new perspectives, and athletes willing to challenge themselves.

The blank spaces on that chart won’t stay blank forever. The question is who will fill them.

More Than Just a Number

At AXIS Flight School, we are invested in helping both new and experienced speed skydivers develop their skills, with an emphasis on safety and performance. That means more than simply making jumps and looking at a number afterward.

Our coaching approach includes academic instruction, video analysis, and GPS-driven debriefs to help athletes understand their performance and identify opportunities for improvement. We also host ISSA competitions, giving speeders opportunities to put their training to work, measure their progress, and experience the competitive side of the discipline.

We believe that better knowledge, better feedback, and thoughtful coaching help athletes pursue their goals with confidence and a strong foundation in safety.

And we’re not doing this just to make people faster. We’re doing it because we believe in the future of speed skydiving and want to help more people experience what makes this discipline so special.

A Solo Event With a Team Spirit

Speed skydiving is technically a solo event. When the exit comes and the clock starts, it’s just you, your body position, and the air rushing past you.

Yet, on the ground, it feels anything but solo.

Feeling the Love.

One of the things I love most about this community is the camaraderie. Speeders are incredibly welcoming and supportive. We each know that our real competition is with ourselves: improving our technique, learning from our mistakes, and finding out how much better we can become.

We celebrate one another’s progress, share knowledge, analyze jumps together, and push each other to perform at our best. Your fellow competitors aren’t just people trying to beat your score. They’re often the same people helping you figure out how to improve it.

That combination of individual achievement and collective support is something truly special.

This is the golden age of speed skydiving. The performances are reaching new heights, the discipline is evolving, and there is still so much room for new athletes to make their mark.

How Fast Can You Go?

Those empty spaces on the record chart are waiting for someone. Maybe a young skydiver who has never considered competition. Maybe a veteran jumper ready for a new challenge. Maybe someone who simply wants to discover what they’re capable of.

Why not you?

AXIS Flight School has world champion speed skydivers who are passionate about teaching and helping others progress. Whether you’re exploring speed skydiving for the first time or looking to refine your performance, we can help you take the next step.

Come learn, train, compete, and become part of a community that wants to bring out the best in you.
